High quality load cell sensor
The life-span and wiring code of load cell

Apr 04, 2019

You already know about the specification of the load cell. Now I will explain the life-span of the load cell. It also could be named the fatigue life which indicates the number of times a rated capacity can be loaded. If the fatigue life is 100,000 times, the weighted capacity can be loaded 100,000 times. When loading occurs more than 100,000 times, the load cell may not perform as well as guaranteed by its specifications.

Generally the load cell can be used for 10 years total 1000,000 times, with proper usage, maintenance, and protection. The load cell would be damaged under the sudden shock or applying force that exceeds the rated capacity for a long time.

Based on the material, there are aluminum alloy load cell, steel alloy load cell and stainless steel load cell. A load cell is a force transducer that receives force in the form of a load and converts it into electronic signals. Devices such as indicators, computers or other measuring devices are necessary to display and use the electrical signals.

I would like to explain how to connect a weighing sensor to an indicator:
The output cables of a load cell consist of two power cables (+/-), two signal cables (+/-), and one shield cable. There are five cables in total. Sometimes there are seven cables used with two additional sensing cables.
You have to read the instruction manual, and you can simply match and connect two cables of the same kind and color, since the instruction manuals of both load cells and indicators describe the kind and the color of each cable. It is necessary to conduct the calibration and set the various option settings, once the cables are connected.
